Pearl 17: Detoxing will give you a facelift.

Those who look to Him are radiant! Numbers 6:26

I am all about a detox. My slight obsession with removing toxins has led to my recent labeling as "the crunchy one" which is actually kind of comical for one who has finally recovered from bow-head preppy girl. My how I have changed! Through the years, I have traded in my obnoxious bows and sparkle wedges for flip flops and messy buns, and my aspartame ridden diet coke for my detoxifying lemon-cucumber water. It probably doesn't help that I smell like lavender from my essential oils when tension is pressing or oregano if I am combating a cold. I would call it healthy, but  I'll take crunchy over bow head everyday...ha:)

I think detoxing is important today, especially since most of us are in toxic overload. We all need a good purge, and when we do it's obvious. We feel better. We look better. There's a book by Dr Perricone about how changing your diet can take ten years off of your face and his evidence is quiet impressive.  What you put in your body will show itself eventually......good or bad?  For lack of a better example, you can usually spot a woman who has smoked most of her life, because you can see it all over her face....not to offend those who smoke, but the damage to what is happening internally is shown externally. It is visible.

Much like our face shows the state of our physical health, it too shows the state of our emotional health. The eyes are the window to the soul. (Matthew 6:22) A calloused heart is not hidden even by the most expensive bottle of concealer. A broken heart isn't either. We can seek to mask the spirit of suspicion or anxiousness that lingers from years of disappointment and broken trust, but no mask truly covers the struggle underneath.

Just as we make choices to set aside our artificially sweetened carbonated drinks that are eroding our health for something that satisfies the needs of our body, we can choose to set aside thinking and beliefs that have eroded our soul and seep through our skin.

If you truly want a facelift, it won't happen with the richest most expensive skin creams, but it can happen as we tend to the inner part of us that we have chosen to simply mask.

I believe a woman who loves the Lord is evident. The love of Lord covers us, heals us and restores us. If we are so focused on getting free from depression it can become the very thing we radiate....depression. If we seek to focus on getting free from anxiety....we can radiate anxiety. But when we seek to look to Him, we begin to look like Him. We radiate it!

But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18

Sweet friends, I charge you to look in the mirror today and ask the Lord to reveal the areas that need a detox so that you would begin to grow in your glow of the Father!!! Joy, peace, love, gentleness and self control are all in you, but you must choose to detox the bitterness, rejection, wounds, heartache so you can take hold of your inheritance!
