Pearl 21: There is MORE!

My husband and I have a heart for the poor. As we have served I have come to realize that while some have fallen to the hands of poverty out of unfortunate circumstances or tragedy or even health crises, far too many are enslaved to a broken system believing they have won.  It doesn't take a few minutes in a government housing community to see that this is not winning. Our church is seeking ways to break this mindset that has enslaved people to poverty. How do we get these people to see that this is not the full life promised? What was intended to be a stepping stone to help families get on their feet has sadly become a way of life, but what grieves my soul most is the number of children that will grow up believing this is all there is.

If you live in a county were poverty is evident, you probably agree with what I am saying. It is easy to see what is happening from the outside looking in. I believe that the life of a believer today is much like this system. We built buildings that were suppose to equip believers to go forth spreading the good news, yet the majority of people come to the building for one be filled. Perhaps that is why there is such a sour aroma on Christians today that causes unbelievers to run from us not to us. We were never meant to be reservoirs; we were to be conduit. Any woman knows that if you fill a hand rag with water and never ring it out, it always sours, right?

Much like the poor we have bought into a system that has made you think you have won or arrived simply by showing up, attending Sunday school and on occasion baking a casserole.  You probably pray before you sleep and over your meals and even your children believe this is winning. (I'm stepping on toes, right?) The problem is you are settling for crumbs when the King offers you to feast.

There is something MORE!

In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:12-14

All believers are not the same.  Some are sipping on milk needing to be fed despite spending most of our lives in churches, while others have found the seat at the table where only the mature get to feast. If you are needing to always be feed....there is MORE!

We have bought into a system that keeps us comfortable. We push away anything that makes us the slightest bit uncomfortable and even label it a "cult" or the antichrist if it doesn't align to our box yet the Word says....

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
1 Cor 2:14

In the words of my husband, Todd, " Weeellllll!" We aren't to run from things that others would say are foolish, but we should expect others to look at us and think we have lost our ever loving minds.  If there is nothing in your life that causes others to murmur about you.....there is MORE!

Let me shake you just a little more, because I think it is safe to assume that some of you are like me and have quoted verse 9 of this section as if it were a later verse when you arrive to those pearly gates and streets of gold....

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written:“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”b —the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.1 Corinthians 2:6-10

This is a NOW verse. There are things that you would never conceive that should be happening in the life of the believer. There are GREATER things to be done through you and if you are not seeing them.....there is MORE!

The reason we don't live in the Greater is because to many have bought into a system that has failed us. They believe they have won by putting on their Sunday best and showing their face in a building that nowhere in scripture was called the church. You are the church. I am the church. We are the church. When we stop looking at the ways of man and start seeking the face of the Father, people will begin to see the church in us.

There are people all over this country today about to throw in the towel on God. They have prayed for years for Him to show up yet they don't see Him. The reason I believe is this....We are the hands and feet of Jesus. If we would be still and hear His voice, and be willing to step in obedience we would carry the answers to long seeded prayers to those who need them. The problem is not God. The problem is that His people have bought into a system that has drained the power source of an Impossible almighty God. If people would not have listened to the voice of God, we would have never finished our church The Well. When we needed $3500 to fix our AC unit, we received a check in the mail. When we needed walls, a crew with tin showed up. When we needed chairs, a woman was prompted to share her tithes with us from a sale of property. When we needed sound, it was donated.

Our every need was met not because a cloud of Glory fell upon our building and things begin magically appearing, but rather because pastors, carpenters, musicians, single mothers, laborers expecting God heard the voice and obeyed.

Don't be enslaved to a system that offers crumbs when there is so much MORE! Expect God! Expect His voice. Expect His instruction. Expect His touch. Expect His hand to move. Expect His appointments. Expect Him to use you right where you are. And He will!

In His Grip,
