Day 8: 21 Day Dare : Moving the Hand of God

Jesus replied, "All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. John 14:23

Dear His Beloved,

There are certain things that move the hand of God. Surprisingly, NEED is not one of those things or else Africa would be the richest place on Earth. The Word of God declared moves the hand of God. Praise also moves the hand of God. And today we look at the Word that causes our tummies to turn....obedience. Yes, sweet friends obedience moves the hand of God, but perhaps not quite the way you would imagine.

It is easy to align your spiritual life to a set of commandments and vow to obey them. I will not covet or murder or steal or have false gods, right?  However, we can get so attached to this list that we can assume that by "not doing" certain things that we are in the will of God. We have missed it completely if we think following Jesus is about "not doing" certain things.  In our best attempt to walk in obedience according to "the list," we can still miss the presence of God and if we do then we have missed everything! As a recovering people pleasing perfectionist who met Jesus when her life fell apart, I can honestly say that I would rather not have anything together and have the presence of God every day.

So in obedience I am not referring to a list of laws but rather a voice prompting you to....
Go. Speak. Give. Bless. Shelter. Feed. Hold.Love.

In my life, I have seen the hand of God move when I stepped out in obedience, especially when my life depended on Him moving. Those moments that took every ounce of faith and courage I could muster up to step into were the very moments that I saw Him clearly and felt Him most intimately.

Those that love me will do what I say........And we will come and make home with them......John 14:23.

We have been so wired to enthrone God so far away from us that it is hard to comprehend the loving Father desiring to make His home with us. I think of the lyrics from a "You're Good Father"....

You're a good good Father. It's who You are. It's who You are, and I'm loved by You.

It's who I am. It's who I am.

His desire is to make home with us. His desire is for us to hear His voice and feel His presence and know that we are loved deeply. I never found any of these following a list, but I have always found them obeying the whisper.

I am reminded of the life of Moses. Moses as you may recall missed ever entering the promise land because of what?....Disobedience. Moses leads the people for 40 years yet never steps into the other side because he strikes a rock instead of speaking to it as The Lord instructed. It seems innocent, yet it was the defining moment that kept him from the fruit of the 40 year journey.  What was God trying to teach us through Moses about obedience?

I know physically most of us don't have a piece of a land that we are entering called the "promised land," but I do believe in our minds and hearts there is one. We all have desires of our hearts. Most of us long to be the person we are called to be. Most of us would love to abound in joy and peace and love. Surely if you are here, you are desiring more of the presence of God in your life? What if the only thing keeping you out of your promised land is that you are striking something God has called you to speak to? Or perhaps you are doing neither? Could there be a little seed of fear keeping your from stepping out that has detoured your destiny?

What happens if you RELEASE fear and doubt and what seems realistic and follow the whisper of a God that operates out of the impossible?
Would you finally take that step that has kept you from your promised land?

Today, dare to get uncomfortable for the sake of becoming the hands and feet of Jesus!

Love Your Life,
