Dangerously Deceived: Part Four Speaking the Truth In Love

Oh, I am praying for your spirit to be open to truth today, because this is one of the truths that goes against the current wave of our culture where everything is tolerated and everything permissible in the name of love. This idea that love calls us to tolerate and permit everything is not only violating the Word of God in many areas, but is keeping many believers blinded to the Kingdom of God on Earth. Sadly to say, this deception is not merely in those lost in the world, but is affecting church leadership and direction, as well.

4:) Speaking the TRUTH in LOVE : We can not tolerate and permit what violates the Word of God.

Ephesians 4:14-16 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

I want you to notice the word INSTEAD that brings the two statements together. Paul is saying that instead of being tossed back and forth by every deceitful schemes {do you notice deceit}, we must SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE. It is the truth in love that awakens us from dangerous deception. I want you to hear my heart...I love you too much to leave you deceived, so I am speaking some hard truth today.  Let's read on...

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.  They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. 17-19

What I heard the Lord speak to me, as He led me to this passage, was that we have developed spiritual leprosy or leprosy of the heart. Leprosy was a more common disease in the days of Jesus that started with a bacteria that caused nerve damage that led to skin disfiguration and ultimately led to numbness. People with leprosy were removed from city places deemed unclean for fear it would effect other people,  because it was said to spread easily. The danger with leprosy was that people with this disease could be deeply wounded and bleed to death without even realizing it, because of the numbness. With this thought of leprosy, I dug deeper into this word specifically looking at Hebrew meaning by a few key words....they are darkened {morally blind} in their understanding and separated from the life of God {Kingdom of God} due to the hardened {numb and calloused} heart. So what has happened in the modern church and in our nation is that we have tolerated certain things for so long that we have become numb, and this numbness has caused moral blindness, and we don't even realize the depth of destruction that is taking place. Much like the leper, we are bleeding to death and people aren't seeing it. We are also missing that this numbness is keeping people out of the Kingdom of God...remember what we learned this week that the kingdom is near us, in us, and our call is to unleash that Kingdom on earth as Jesus did. The passage goes on to say that we have lost all sensitivity. We have ultimately developed leprosy of the heart, and two thousand years after Jesus's redemption we are still dealing will issues of numbness.

Follow me here...

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

He speaks to us clearly....DO NOT BE DECEIVED! The truth is that God takes sexual sin seriously, and there is no way to sugar coat or deny it. We must wake up to truth that what we think is dabbling in sin is detaching us from the promises of God. Jesus taught us in parable that finding the Kingdom is like one who finds a treasure in the field, and when they find that treasure, they sold everything and bought the field. The Kingdom is your inheritance. The kingdom is greater than anything and everything you are being allured to dabble in. And the enemy of your heart knows the power of one who steps into the Kingdom so he is blinding us with the very things that deny access.

However, I love what follows these tough statements...

 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. {Praise God! We are washed!}

Despite where we have been or what we have done, He washes us and calls us into a new life. I believe the reason there is so much temptation and deception around sexual sin is because God says that when we offer our bodies to Him as a living sacrifice it is true and proper worship. You see the enemy, once the worship leader of the heavenliness, is defeated in worship. Our history shows that worship defeats the enemy, and it also torments him, because he will never be able to worship again. Worship is not simply singing a hymn on Sunday mornings, but rather it is a life style that you get to choose! Worship is your warfare. Worship is saying, "No" to some things the world is saying "Yes" to.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.Romans 12:1

Sweet friends, there is no shame here, just waking up to truth that you are the temple of the holy spirit. You are so valuable to the Kingdom of God that the enemy has tried to deceive you so that you aren't doing the very thing you are called to do. Don't take His bait! Don't allow the deception to steal your promises.

Bring your struggles today to Jesus. He says..

My GRACE is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in your weakness!
2 Corinthians 12:9

And then ask Him to take you into the Kingdom! He is just waiting for you to knock and ask for more!

And for those that have people in your life struggling, open wide your arms and love them without judgement, but lead them to the one who promises...

Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! 2 Corinthians 3:17

Trusting Him
