Dangerously Deceived: Part Seven The lie that keeps us from GREATER!

My heart was to get this final video to you as we celebrate Resurrection Day, but I went a little long on this teaching so it is taking longer to upload than the others. I pray you will take the time to listen to this message, because you really need to hear my heart on this one to fully receive it and there is more in the video than here in text.

If you recall yesterday, we learned that the enemy of your heart is said to be the deceiver of the world in Revelation 12:9. This means we have ALL been deceived, and the intent of this series was to awaken women, especially believers, to the places that I found on my spiritual journey where my truth was not God's TRUTH. I was dangerously deceived, and God was speaking to my heart to share TRUTH because people are perishing for a lack of knowledge!  This final area was the area that deceived me most, but has also awakened me most as I have chosen to align to truth.

7:) 'The Gifts Are Not of Today' may be your truth, but it is not THE TRUTH!

 You see, the deceiver of the world knows your power lies in walking in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, so he has done an amazing job of creating fear and debate over whether the gifts have ceased today. If he can get us debating this topic rather than walking in them, we miss the call of Paul to pursue love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts. {1 Corinthians 14: 1 }

I want you to know that all four Gospels speak to us needing to be baptized in water and baptized in the Holy Spirit:{Matthew 3:11 ,Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33}

Baptize or Baptizo means to be immersed in. We get the Holy Spirit at salvation, but asking for the baptism of the holy spirit immerses us in the spirit.  There were two occasions in Acts where believers were met by Paul and Peter, and though they were baptized in water, they were unaware of the Holy Spirit. Seeing that they did not have the power, Paul and Peter laid hands on these men, and asked them to receive the Holy Spirit, and in both encounters they did receive the Holy Spirit. {Acts 9 and Acts 19} This piece of our history says that we can be baptized in water, and not have understanding or awareness of the Holy Spirit. It also says that we need to seek more than water baptism. If water baptism was simply enough, Peter nor Paul would not have need to assure that these believers had both. They understood the believers needed the gift of power which is the first sign of the Holy Spirit.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

What are The Gifts of the Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all.  To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge.  To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages.  All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.Mark 16:17-18

The scripture speaks that their should be evidence or fruit of a follower of Jesus. It is interesting that most people will not debate that knowledge, wisdom, faith or love are still gifts of today, but they will challenge you on all of the gifts that make them uncomfortable like prophecy, healing, and tongues or prayer language. The struggle is that these gifts that cause uneasiness to many believers, are the very gifts we need to live out the GREATER life God called us to. They are also the gifts that awaken us to the empowered life of bringing heaven to earth that is deeply embedded in out heart. {I have set eternity in the hearts of man. Ecc 3:11} It was in walking in the gifts that I was fully awakened to purpose. It was in walking in the gifts that I opened the door to deeper intimacy. It was in walking in gifts that I lead people deceived to Jesus. It was in walking in the gifts that I began to experience miracles. If you are too busy debating if the gifts are of today  or denying them, then you are missing out on the inheritance of the believer to live from intimacy, identity, and destiny. Without deep connection through these gifts, we are veiled to the transformation the Spirit offers us.

Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:15-18

So why do we need to purse these gifts? Because they help us live the empowered life, they help us reach lost people, and they connect us intimately with the Father. If you would like to deepen your spiritual experience, and live out the great commission, you will need the gifts! In the words of Paul, pursue love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts.

I recommend that if you are still questioning this topic or if you need deeper scriptural understanding to read these two books : "The God I Never Knew" by Robert Morris and "Surprised by the Power of the Holy Spirit" by Jack Deere. Robert Morris is the Lead Pastor of one of the largest churches in our nation, Gateway Church. If you aren't familiar with his church, you certainly know Kari Jobe who was for many years his worship leader. Jack Deere was a theology teacher at Dallas Theological Seminary. Both of these men taught against the gifts today, and after experiencing them have changed their teachings and are having great influence in the Kingdom.

May you desire truth in your innermost being, and may that truth set you free to be all God called you to be!

Dangerously Awake,
