God is Light, Love & Life- Does your life reflect it?

Good morning sweet friends,

For those of you who have been joining me through 1 John, today will wrap up this journey. There are three themes of 1 John: God is Light. God is Love. God is Life.

When I look at these three titles together, I can't help but think of how we so often over-complicate what is clearly displayed as His Path. I have counseled a number of women conflicted and confused by decision, and I have been there myself....should I go, should I stay, should I be here or there, with him or her, or you calling me, am I on Your path? And the answer should simply be, Does it bring light, love, and life? If you are walking with Him, you should be walking in all three: Light, Love & Life. Now certainly it doesn't mean abandon your marriage when the "going gets tough" or fly away to a secluded island when your children make you want to pull every single strand of your hair out, but rather to know that when we are in places or situations that do not harvest light, love, and life then changes must be made!

It should cause us to look at our marriages and be willing to do what is necessary to make it a place of light and love and life, because don't we all want godly marriages? The same goes with our children or our careers; we can't linger in darkness or doubt or what drains our energy, but make necessary changes to birth godly environments. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, right? We make a choice to be the change that reflects God! And it calls us to not proceed into places where confusion and doubt linger, but rather trust and wait on Him for what He has planned. (And he promises no eye has seen nor mind conceived what I have prepared for those who believe!)

Just as I did yesterday, I am speeding through chapter 5, so please spend some time here. There are three scriptures from this chapter that jumped at me:

This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. (5:3-4)

*You obey when you love! So be obedient when you notice that you are in a place that doesn't harbor light, love and life and either remove it or be the change! And realize that his obedience is not burdensome- it brings life! How many times I have clung to something that He asked me to release only to find that it was so much more of a burden to cling to than release.  So release!

God has given us eternal life and this life is in His son. He who has the son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (11-12)

* Do not be swayed by the world and the "universe" talk. Our eternal life comes from Jesus! Proclaim it, seek it, and walk in it with confidence! And this eternal life begins here....thy kingdom come! So don't miss it!

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us- whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him. (14-15)

*Approach Him with confidence when you are praying, and pray in His will- his word is his will, so align your prayers to his word! His will is for marriage and for healing and for miracles...but all that bring glory to His kingdom! I prayed with some children a few weeks back for a mother that was lost. We claimed victory! We cried out victory! And we have seen victory! Be confident and walk in victory...remember who overcomes the word? He who believes that Jesus is the Son of God (5). We are overcomers!

May you spend some time this weekend seeking to be revealed to those places in your life that aren't reflecting love, life and light and may you surrender those places to the great I AM! May you be changed and your life become the truth of 1 John....it is all about love!

Seek. Love. Follow.

In His Wings,
