Do you know who you are?

Screen Shot 2013-06-26 at 6.52.08 AMGood morning sweet friends, We are headed north this morning making our way to the Forward Conference in Atlanta. So excited to take our young girls to experience an arena of youth on fire. There is really nothing like witnessing children who get it.....who get Him.

And perhaps it is one of the mysteries of Jesus words, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3)  Children receive it so fully without the walls we have built and without the clouded lenses our pasts have created and before all of the "things" have weighted us down.  As I was packing up and thinking of their little hearts, I pondered in my own what I would impart into them if I could....something that would save them the "forty years" I spent traveling the same mountain and two words immediately came to mind.  Two words that would ignite destiny and confidence and stir in them a desire to know who they are and never settle for lesser things. Two words that should grab hold of us, as women, just the same.

It led me back to the questions I posed yesterday.....the questions that keep us from taking that leap of faith that He calls us too. You know the ones.....

Do I just settle here with what I have been given, even if it means turning in a dream?

Do I create a “Plan B” to assure the desire of my heart is met?

Do I truly believe that He will never leave or forsake me?

Do I really believe that God is good, and He called me here to see if He could trust me with what He has to give me?

How differently these questions move us with the addition of these same two simple words....

Do I, His Beloved, just settle here with what I have been given, even if it means turning in a dream? Do I, His Beloved, create a “Plan B” to assure the desire of my heart is met? Do I, His Beloved, truly believe that He will never leave or forsake me? Do I really believe that God is good, and He called me here to see if He could trust me with what He has to give me, His Beloved? There is something about saying those words.....His Beloved that awakens your divine DNA. It is affirmation of your identity....your destiny. It is regardless of where you have been, regardless of what you have or have not achieved....it is who you are.....His beloved! It is the answer to the ache that burns deep for authentic love and the longing for something more! I am His Beloved!

And to be honest the "pity party" statements just don't work when the truth is added..... Do I, His Beloved, truly believe that He will never leave or forsake me? Of course you do, you are His Beloved! The giver of perfect love calls you His, so yes, you can believe it! Do I , His Beloved, need a plan B in case He doesn't show up? Heavens no, because you are His Beloved, He will show up for you, and though His timing seems at the last hour, it is perfect!  Often we are paralyzed in fear not because of who we question He is, but because we question who we are.......His Beloved!

We know the words of Song of Solomon.....words that were said to reveal God's intimate love for us through the love story of Solomon and his wife......His beloved, but even beyond the Song of Solomon the message is consistent in scripture that we are His love and He cares for us deeply!

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

1 John 4:7-8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,  casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

1 Peter 3:3-4  Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

Psalm 86:15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

1 John 3:1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

If I could give these precious girls one truth that would change their life it would be to know who they are in Christ. I would give you the same. When we realize who we are, we don't settle for lesser things, we don't need back up plans, we don't need the approval of others, we don't need status or things to create value. But we walk differently than others because we realize there is a crown upon our heads, we love differently than others because we know the love of our Beloved, we live differently because we finally see it from His eyes......You are my beloved and you are to die for! And He did.
